Athletic Eligibility

To be eligible to compete in interscholastic sporting events, students at Monticello Middle School will be evaluated in the following area:

Qualities of Successful Learners

Work Completion & Work Ethic

demonstrates independent work habits to complete

duties & quality assignments in a timely manner

4- Consistently

3- Most of the time

2- Some of the time

1- Infrequently

0- Rarely

Eligible Students-

-must earn an average score of 2.4 points

-can have no more than one score below a level “2”

-no scores below a level "1"

Grade Check Periods

First Grade Check
First Friday of the season

 

Second Grade Check (athletes on probation only)
Second Friday of the season

 

Third Grade Check (all athletes)
Third Friday of the season

 

Fourth Grade Check (athletes on probation only)
Fourth Friday of the season

 

Fifth Grade Check (all athletes)
Fifth Friday of the season

 

Final Grade Check (athletes on probation only)
Sixth Friday of the season

 

DEFINITIONS

Probation

Student did not meet academic requirement, but is eligible to practice and play in game(s) until the next grade check.

 

Ineligible

Student was on probation previously and was unable to meet the academic requirement the following week. He/she will not be allowed to play in any contests until the next grade check. Please note, if an athlete has been ineligible three times in one season, he/she will be removed from the team for the remainder of the season.

Office Referrals

If an athlete receives an office referral during an athletic season, he/she will be placed on probation. If the athlete receives a second office referral during the same athletic season he/she will be ineligible for the remainder of the season.
